Why We Created Mori & Sora

There is something about children’s clothes that makes time visible.

A little shirt that once looked oversized becomes snug. Trousers that once needed to be rolled at the ankle suddenly sit perfectly. A favourite sweatshirt carries the evidence of playgrounds, Sunday mornings, family trips and countless little adventures.

Childhood moves quickly.

And that is where Mori & Sora began.

We wanted to create children’s clothing that felt as considered as the things we choose for ourselves - clothing that was beautiful without being precious, comfortable without looking ordinary, and timeless without feeling boring.

Mori & Sora was created around a simple idea:

Children deserve clothes designed for childhood.

Not miniature versions of adult fashion. Not clothes covered in loud graphics or trends that disappear after a season.

Just thoughtful pieces made for little people who are constantly moving, discovering and growing.

Our design language takes inspiration from the quiet simplicity of Japanese and Korean aesthetics - relaxed silhouettes, natural textures, muted colours and uncomplicated details.

But Mori & Sora is made for the way childhood happens here.

For warm afternoons. Family lunches. Weekend outings. School holidays. Rainy evenings. Bare feet. Messy meals. Long car journeys. Unexpected adventures.

We choose silhouettes that allow movement and fabrics that feel good against young skin. We like colours inspired by nature - forest greens, earthy browns, soft blues, warm rusts, gentle yellows and quiet neutrals.

Nothing needs to shout.

The little details can speak for themselves.

Our first collection, Mori, is inspired by the forest. Sora, meaning sky, brings a lighter sense of openness and exploration. Together, they represent the two worlds that inspire us most: nature and imagination.

We believe children’s wardrobes don’t need to be complicated.

A few well-made pieces can become many outfits. A shirt can be worn open over a tee. A pair of relaxed trousers can work with a knit or a sweatshirt. Colours can sit together naturally.

And perhaps most importantly, clothes should leave room for the child wearing them to be the most interesting thing in the room.

Mori & Sora is still at the beginning of its story.

But our hope is simple.

That our clothes become part of ordinary childhood moments - the photographs you take without thinking, the mornings you wish lasted longer, the clothes your child insists on wearing again and again.

Because ultimately, we aren’t designing clothes for a season.
